I often wonder do I really have to engage In social media as I hate the pull of the time it’s sucks up and rabbit holes I wander down due to having ADHD. (Diagnosed late on at 52) I read online of course that in this digital age, establishing an online presence has become crucial for businesses looking to thrive in a competitive market.

I set up my Facebook and Instagram, and thought ok what now, wait for people to suddenly arrive on my page and think , oo I like the look of that. Click… now following.

How do I reach the right udience, how do I promote our products, and engage with customers. However, the journey of using social media for business begins.

The Initial Excitement: Setting Up Shop

I decided to google how to set up a shop on Facebook and Instagram. After weeks of hard work and dedication, I finally set up our shop, ready to showcase our products.. The anticipation of reaching potential customers and boosting your sales is nerve racking..

The fist knock back

Just when I thought I finally managed to work it out, an unexpected hurdle appears. I found out that there were repercussions of Brexit, our carefully created shop is not visible to customers in the UK. The frustration and disappointment that follow this revelation really dampened my spirits. Two weeks of dedication seemingly gone to waste.

Social Media Maze

The complexities of social media marketing has left me scratching my head. Algorithms, ad placements, target audiences – the terminology feels like a foreign language at times. As a business owner, I wonder: Is this all worth it? Do I truly need social media to succeed in the digital landscape?

.

Embracing it anyway

Im going to have lots of ups and downs selling online, what pops up is the platitude of `remember that the journey is as important as the destination’. (Really!!) especially if the journey is more unpleasant than joyful. However I’m going to have to learn from setbacks, and adapt to the ever-evolving digital landscape. Social media is daunting, but I don’t know if there’s any other way to get Scottish Pilgrims out there for people to see us.

In conclusion, the path of online marketing is laden with obstacles, uncertainties, and sometimes, unforeseen roadblocks. But beyond the frustrations and complexities, I have to trust in God and it takes how long it takes.
