Story behind the Christmas card design
Every year I like to do a Christmas card design to sell and give the proceeds to a local charity.
This year I updated a previous design of my local parish and to make it even more personal and unique our present Priest Father Andrew is in front of the church, proud of his Parish and welcoming all newcomers and regular parishioners alike.
We never know when our Priest will be called on to his next chapter, so it’s also a good memory to put down on paper to be able to look back on.

Designing of Christmas Card
I started with a photo.

St Thomas of Catnterbury, Arbroath
I did a pencil outline and colour-fill to try colours out.

I changed it to square design as the final card was going to be printed as a square Christmas card. Then I tried different night scenes to make it feel more Christmassy. I also realised the doors were painted blue and the red was a previous colour. I took a photograph before going into mass and which highlights the changes. The tree on the left was cut down but I kept it in, in order to put some Christmas lights on it.

I did a lot of highlighting, changing colours, adding snow, removing snow, shading and erasing. I was so worried about doing it justice I had to leave it and go back to it quite a few times.
I finally finished something which was good enough. I say good enough because I can always see the parts that I’m not good enough at, the flaws I want to make perfect. So there has to come a time to stop and say it’s good enough, Adrienne, let it go and God is in control now.

Fundraising Efforts
It’s Important for me to use a gift I’ve been given for some good even though it’s not good enough (little theme threading throug here) I wish I could give more but giving something is a start.
I looked at various charities to support, I was particularly interested in supporting people who have no basics such as food and shelter. So the stand out choice for me was a charity called Social Bite.
Their mission is;
We are a movement to end homelessness. We are a charity and social business providing homes, jobs, food, and support to empower people to transform their own lives.
Here is a link to find out all the wonderful things they are doing, they are such an inspiration.
Please pray that the cards sell and we can donate money to ensure people can sit and have a Christmas meal.
